SIRITH MALDAMA ; A HANDBOOK FOR GOOD LIVING

Read Sirith Maldama and lead a worthy life.
 Writer: M.L.Silva
'Sirith Maldama' is a collection of short Sinhalese poems. They have been written for the purpose of creating a virtuous society. Every single poem contains a valuable direction for good living. I tried to paraphrase the poems for the English speaking society.
The poems contain a universal value. Hence it can be used as a handbook  for good living. The poet transfers the highest values inculcated in the old society to the younger generation.
The progress of the human society cannot be prevented. It is a continuous process. Along with such progress in every sphere of the society human values should also continue. It is the human values that make the progress of mankind more meaningful.
Can one expect good living in a society where everyone hates each other; the old is not respected ; other living beings are brutally treated ; lies not truth wags the tongues.
M.L.Silva's attempt must be highly appreciated by everyone. It is a tremendous effort made with the power of language. The simple language used in the poems makes his mission more effective.
